On behalf of the organizing committee, I am pleased to welcome you to the VI Latin American Crystallographic Association Meeting taking place in Montevideo, Uruguay from September 23 to 26, 2024.
Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay, situated in the south of the country, harbors around 1.5 million inhabitants and sits on the coast of the Rio de la Plata. The city has been rated as one of the cities with the best quality of life in South America for the past 8 years. You will find it to be dynamic, inclusive, friendly, and much more. There are several historic landmarks that attest to the several cultures that came through the largest natural port in South America.
It is our pleasure to host the LACA meeting in 2024, a young scientific association that nucleates a very diverse community studying structural sciences in Latin America. The LACA meeting was previously held in Brazil (2015), Mexico (2016), Chile (2018), Colombia (2019) and Costa Rica (2022) after its foundation in Argentina (2013)..
We are working on putting together an exciting program that will allow discussions on the latest developments in structural sciences in the continent and some dedicated talks on what is coming in the field in the near future.
Our best efforts will be dedicated towards funding acquisition to make sure that we can help as many young researchers as we can to come and share science.
A recap of the last two days of collaborative work 💪
We shared experiences from the last 3 years and explored future opportunities. In 2025, the coordination will move to Uruguay and we’re already planning how to strengthen structural biology across the region.
